Project Brief:

The ability to survive in a competitive business environment for any business organisation will depend on its understanding of not just the micro environment but also the macro business environment. Businesses need to develop effective strategies bearing in mind their needs and those of their valuable stakeholders with UK on the verge of leaving the European Union and uncertainty in the turbulent dynamic business environment.

You are employed as a Business Analyst by a large, medium sized or small multinational organisation which is John Lewis company that is based in the UK to investigate different types and sizes of business they will have to compete with. Analyse current environmental factors that influence or impact your organisation.

You are required to investigate and examine different types of organisations, their size and classification, to highlight differences between them with their legal structure, size and scope, as well as their key stakeholders. For one of the organisations you must then explain the various functions within the business and create an organisational chart to explain the interrelationships between different functions.

This should be presented as a report to the CEO and should include the following:

1. Introduction with an explanation of different types of organisations and the growth of the international business environment.
2. An brief examination of the given organisation, including: background details of the organisation; the products and services they supply; the size and scope of the organisation; their vision, mission and business objectives; the organisational and legal structure; and information about their stakeholders.
3. Examine the functions for one of the chosen organisations, using an organisation chart to show how the functions interrelate and an explanation of how they link to the organisational objectives and structure. You need to gather detailed information as Business Analysts to evaluate the current environmental factors that influence or impact your chosen organisation.
4. Identify and explain the various macro environmental factors that impact on the business operations, highlighting the positive and negative impacts with specific examples relating to your chosen organisation Using PESTLE analysis.
5. Produce the internal and external analysis for the chosen organisation in order to identify the strengths and weakness. Explain how they influence the decision-making process.
6. Use a SWOT or TOWS analysis to your organisation to identify their key strengths and weaknesses. Explain the interrelationships these have with the external macro factors previously discussed.
