Self- reflection is a technique which is used by an individual for reflecting or describing their experience related to specific event or programs. It is a self –assessment after organizing event considered to very important as well as beneficial activity. As this strategy helps an individual in identify the area of improvement as well as recognizing the performance gaps. The self –reflection practices executed by an individual indicates the willingness of person to learn about their fundamental nature as well as performance during the task. It also enables a person to recognize the method which can be used for improving the performance and analyzing the techniques which can be used for making event successful. Self- reflection practices also supports person in formulation of future plans related to organizing other events.
In present report the description about the experience gained by an individual in organizing a cultural event has been provided.
By analyzing the latest business trends I have realized that event management as a profession has wide scope of career growth. Therefore, I have planned to get placement in event Management Company. After getting selected, I have been appointed as an event manager in a company. I have organized cultural event in United Kingdom and Romania. After few days of joining I have given the assignment to organize an cultural event. When I was assigned with the task, during that time I felt little nervous .As I was new in this fields and does not have much knowledge therefore, for few weeks I have been asked to work under the supervision of existing event manager and I have also given advice to work in team. When I have assigned with this specific project at the same I have decided to put my all efforts in making the event successful as well as memorable for the audience. As due to lack of experience as well as knowledge in particular field, I failed to determine or recognize the barriers which might occur in organizing the event. At the initial stage of planning an event I and my team members have planned to organize event both in developed as well as underdeveloped countries such as Romania and United Kingdom. I and my team members have selected these two places Romania on the basis of the assumption that the where people can see and understood the culture, the art, practices, values and social behaviors of this two country (Garcia, 2008) I and my team member by communicating with students have realized that, these are the people those who are required to be provided education related to culture. So I and my team members have decided to target teachers who are teaching in university. Professors in a university are the people who will help us in achieving the objectives of organizing an event. As in Present scenario, young children does not have awareness about culture which has direct and negative effect on their behavior as well as personal growth. I have selected Holborn UKCBC University for organising the event. I have chosen this place as I believe that it will help me in reaching to the target audience as well as achieving desired objective. I and my team members have taken initiatives and planned efforts with the objectives of supporting people in expanding as well as promoting culture. Another purpose of planning as well as organising event is to encourage people to respect the cultural of other. I and my team members have planned to organise event in a such a manner that each and every person in the society get a chance to share their views, opinions, belief about the cultural issues. Another objective of organising cultural events in two countries is to promote unity and help people in reducing the cultural differences. I and my team member has planned to organise cultural event in such a manner that it promotes inter-cultural exchange .Our main aim behind launching cultural event is to increase cultural value and improve cultural practices. I have planned to organised cultural events with the intention to enhance a sense of identity amongst local communities (Turner 2017)
When I was first time after few days of joining the job assigned with the task to organise inter-culture exchange event I felt little nervous. I have able to gain confidence with the support of my colleagues. After hearing the experience of other people I have learned many things which has helped me in making significant contribution in making event successful. After listening to the experience of other people I feel excited. I have also experienced the challenges as well as excitement of organising event which are associated with launching of successful cultural event. By participating in such task I had also felt emotional at specific time and also experience short winning which has helped be in increasing my confidence as well as motivational level. These are two qualities which I believe are essential for fostering personal as well as professional growth.
I believe that instead of investing a big amount of money on organising an event , firm can use social media sites for Promoting as well as generating the cultural awareness among people in the society. I have suggested these strategies to top level management as well as other people those who are working with me in an organisation. I have given this suggestion by calculating the cost of organising an event and comparing it with expenses on advertisement. After making the evaluation of several factors which might have significant impact on the event, I have realized that environmental issues can create big barriers in successful launching of an event. I have also evaluated that the major source of the challenges for cultural event is: each people bring a souvenir from their country. I have also identified that the techniques for measuring the effectiveness of events. Among several methods I have applied to measure the impact of cultural program me on society (Lundberg, Armbrecht and Getz, eds., 2017)
When organising the event I have identified that there are several resources are required such as screaming music, decorations material, human , technology and other equipment etc. I have also experienced that there is organising a simple cultural event required huge capital investment. I have analysed from the research report which has been prepared by R&D department in an organisation that many people in the society who are working face many culture issues which has direct as well as major influence on their performance at workplace Herrero, Sanz and Del (
Barrio, 2006) I have analysed from my experience of participating in such types of events that many audience does not life to participate in events or programmes due to lack of entertainment, ineffective food arrangements and hygiene issues. I have also identified that there are several challenges as well as hurdles which can arise in making event successful. Some of the problems which can create barriers in organising the event at specific location are limited time , resources , poor parking facilities, environmental issues etc.
After conduction the evaluation I have discover the interesting model which is recognised as cultural impact model. I have also analysed that there are only few people or employees in my organisation have knowledge about the same. I have also realised that experience, skills knowledge are very much important in order to organise event in successful manner. I have also realised that effective planning is very important in order to achieve the objective of launching the event. I perceive that such types of cultural event or programs serve to fulfill specific intention, especially in regard to commemoration. I also believe that helps in increasing cultural value. I think that the effect on the community or the region could be observed not only by economic aspects, but also by taking into consideration social and cultural effects benefit or hinder the event-hosting society. I have also analyzed by listening to the opinion of people during the event that there are many people in the society are looking for political and cultural
recognition from the rest of their society (Sol, Brito and Lopes,2017)
