QUANTITATIVE ANALYSIS

Introduction

The first part of study will focus on analysing quantitative research. The research methodology and findings are described as below:

Research Questions and Methods

1. Research Questions or hypothesis

The relationship between psychological contract and employment relations have formulated 3 hypothesis (Coyle-Shapiro and Kessler, 2000).

  • Hypothesis 1. Positive effect on employees after fulfilment of psychological contract.
  • Hypothesis 2.Positive effect on commitment of employees after fulfilment of psychological contract.
  • Hypothesis 2b: Perception of employees regarding relationship between fulfilment psychological contract and organisational commitment.
  • Hypothesis 3: Positive impact on employee OCB behaviour after fulfilment of psychological contract.

2. Relationship of hypothesis to the wider issues of business and management.

In order to sustain in the competitive environment, it is essential for business organisations to devise effective and efficient plans in order to enhance employee's satisfaction and motivation so that robust relationship can be constructed in organisation. In order to enhance employee's satisfaction and motivation so that robust relationship can be constructed in organisation (Taylor, Bogdan and DeVault, 2015). Psychological contract means set of employment expectations manifested by employers which are different from codified employment contracts. Psychological contract plays a prominent and significant role in enhancing relationship between employees and employers.

3. Relationship of hypothesis to literature review

In the research paper, researchers constructed a strong argument elaborating every aspect of psychological contract and its direct impact on employment relationship. In the paper, researchers discovered that if the psychological contract has been fulfilled by the employer organisation, then it will generate positive effects on employee's relationship. This was the second hypothesis of research study. In the research study, researchers discovered the concept of Organisational Citizenship Behaviour (OCB). In this context, researcher formulated the third hypothesis.

4. Appropriateness of research methods in regards with hypothesis

Researchers have carried out survey at local authority in South East of Britain. The first survey was conducted with managers who were representatives of organisation and second survey was conducted with employees by using questionnaire method (Mackey and Gass, 2015). Both the methods of research were appropriate as researchers were able to collect adequate amount of data to conduct research in order to validate their hypothesis.

5. Criteria for data collection, sampling and analysis

Researchers surveyed 1130 managers working at local authorities out of which 703 managers responded and the response rate was 62 per cent. 23000 questionnaires were provided to the employees working part-time and full-time at local authorities. 6953 employees filled the questionnaire completely with response rate of 30 per cent.

6. Research context described adequately

With the help of literature review and research methodologies researchers was able to elaborates the crux of the research study. In this way researchers was able to attain the aim and objective of the study.

7. Ethical issues faced associated with research

In the research paper, researchers have not explicitly described any ethical issues, but researchers have mentioned some of the limitations of study. They could enhance their research by involving private sector employers and employees.

Research Findings

1. Findings derived from data

The findings have been derived from data in precise manner (Flick, 2015). Researchers elaborated that three factors which are training, transactional and relational obligation emerged from measuring psychological contract.

2. Approach used for interpretation

Researchers in their research used the subsequent hierarchical regression analysis approach for analysing data and interpreting it in precise and adequate manner.

3. Relationship between findings and the conclusion

The findings of research are explicitly related with the conclusion as researchers recommended in their finding that majority of employees experiencing contract breach. This is what they rephrased in their conclusion.

4. Relationship between considered research and researchers.

There is a direct relationship in between researchers and their research paper and researcher in precise and systematic manner provide detail information about research. With the help of precise literature review and research methodologies researcher able to elaborate and generate output of research.

5. Findings relationship with literature

In literature review, researchers discovered that authors explicitly elucidated that psychological contract plays a prominent role in the employment relationship. If the psychological contract has not been fulfilled by employers, then employee's commitment and satisfaction will subsequently get decreased and vice versa (Lewis, 2015).
