Digital technology has changed and revolutionised in the context of business. The use of digital technology has provided businesses with a wealth of choice and various opportunity. This has enabled products to become profitable and innovative new products to be developed, which leads to increasingly diverse product portfolios. Its impact is evident at the core of all key business systems:
- Administration - cloud technology provides effective filing, storage and sharing of data.
- Communication - Social media and mobile technology allows businesses to connect, communicate, collaborate and build relationships on a global scale.
- Storage and Distribution - `The Internet of Things’ is connecting and integrating systems throughout business structures.
- Production - Artificial intelligence and big data analytics are enhancing Innovation and product growth.
But, changes in the way we work are not without their challenges as businesses have to adopt and deal with change management, recruit and sustain creative talent, invest in new technologies and respond to increasing competitive environment.
Scenario
“Continental Consulting Limited” is a Research and Business Consultancy. Main Business of the organisation is Business Process Re-engineering and potential customers include small and medium manufacturing companies located in and around London and Greater London. Mario works with team of 22 expert consultants and researchers, and you are working there as Deputy Head of Business Research in the company.
The company was setup 8 years ago and the owner at that time procured the latest equipment, computer and IT facilities at that time. However, with passing time and rapid innovation in IT industry and use of IT in identical businesses made eight years old equipment obsolete and there was need to upgrade the use of IT and to enhance the capabilities of working.
Even though Company have expertise in their field of business with and possesses a experience of employees of over 150 years, the company felt that the business is being lost to competitors as Continental Consulting Limited still not making enough efforts to upgrade the business process which is proving to be the key weaknesses and many other new business have come up with lot more innovative ideas are successfully in capturing the market.
On 31st of May 2018, Mario Bindas called your section head and you to meet and identify company IT needs and then take necessary actions. As a result of long deliberation, CEO, head of Research Section, and you reached at one-point agenda which is also your “Research Aim” that will identify and evaluate the:

After the meeting with CEO, you and your section head agreed on the agenda to carry on this research. Your section head made a number of suggestions and some important advices to which is crucial in research.
Starting with three advises which are:
- That the research must be presented in a Report Format.
- Each area of the report must be clearly identified.
- Each Section must have a heading.
